The traveller captures the memories of his travels through his camera - photographs - or with a video camera - footage. My thesis explores a more engaging, more physical way of capturing the memory of a city - specifically Madrid. The result of this technique has been applied to objects that the traveller can use in their home to remind them of their travels.

This is a collection of household objects bringing the atmosphere of Madrid and the Madrileño culture of living in the streets into the home. Rubbings - made with 4B graphite and fabric - of surfaces and objects from the streets of Madrid are printed onto the collection of household wares. The sounds from the daily lives of people in Madrid have been recorded and used in this collection also.
