PAREJAS/PAIRS – Collaboration Project

Oct 10 2011

pareja/pair #1

Keira Burgess [Sunday Studios] has gone to Spain for 3 months on a trip to explore art, design, language + culture. To keep the connection with Canada Keira is collaborating with me, living in Edmonton, on a project – Pairs/Parejas. This project is a back+forth dialog of images – a snapshot of anything where the other person has to pair with an image of their own. Let the match begin!

NON-FICTION – 600 – Technology

Oct 03 2011

Found patterns! In the Non-fiction section of the Stanley A. Miller Library in downtown Edmonton. These were the hard covers of car manuals from a few different automotive companies. Maybe I’ll do a bit more research to see where the patterns come from – some patterns cross over from the different car company manuals…

Colour Alley Public Art Project – Edmonton.

Aug 28 2011

The Edmonton Arts Council has commissioned a transitory public art project for the 104 street alley. This transitory topographical mural project will be designed to beautify and create awareness of the physical alley space through use of colour and dynamic composition/pattern. This artwork will have an exciting, high visual impact in the neighbourhood.

I, along with two other local artists Rob Harpin and Karen Campos will be painting and stenciling each of our own patterns in the alley with a great team of volunteers Sunday, August 28. This horizontal mural on the asphalt surface of the T-shaped alleyway intersection between 104 Street/103 Street and 102 Ave./Jasper Ave. is a temporary installation and will wear away with time…

Ceramic Object Holders

Feb 02 2011

Geometrics

Newnewnew! A project I just finished a little while ago. Hand poured ceramic plates that can hold small objects like rings, watches, sunglasses, keys… The decorative side of the plates are gold leafed. I used plaster molds that were originally used for hand pressed wall + floor tiles from a local ceramic tile company.

At the Out Of The Bag show…

Dec 28 2010

all photos courtesy of the SDA.

This past October Media, Art, Design Exposed (M.A.D.E.) in Edmonton celebrated its 10th year of exposing art and design in our city with a ten day event, Edmonton Design Exposed (EDE): How a Decade is M.A.D.E.

During these ten days there were events at various downtown Edmonton venues. I exhibited my Household Souvenirs Unfolded cushion Collection + Impressions of Spain cushion Collection, PLAY! rug and my Welcome + Hello doormats as part of University of Alberta alumni at Out Of The Bag – a U of A design show hosted by the Student Design Association for students and alumni.
